Episode 3 – Chi ha la stoffa

There are 3 challenges for 1 episode.
Challenge #1: TECHNICAL – where you are provided a sample garment and pattern making papers. You have to sew the garment exactly the instruction and the sample under 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Challenge #2: UPCYCLING – where you have to create new garments, objects or anything from the leftover fabrics/ clothes that are not used anymore.
Challenge #3: MISURA – where you have to create an outfit with a given theme on the random model women/men.

Overview: it was a tough episode honestly and an unexpected cruel twist at the end. There was 2 people who were eliminated. It is was a dreadful shock for me. I was so lucky to survive to get through to the next round but still admitedly, struggled a lots this episode.
1. Technical challenge: Men shirt with short sleeve – 2.5 hours

Winner – CIRA
I made men’s shirt before but I was not confident to make it because I knew that I do not have many experiences on technical sewing, my speed was too slow. It turned out not so good obviously. I understood how important of sewing skills is. It made garments completely upper level if you could master on it.
But there was a great moment with Elide. I was so happy to talk with her. I am so grateful for that.
2. Upcycling challenge: Carpet fabrics – 1.5 hours

How to turn the carpet fabric into something in 90 minutes? It is heavy, structure fabric. All I thought about is jacket or something outerwear. The fabric was heavy like 30kg-dumbbell, I barely lifted it on table for cutting then floor became my table. I believed Cristian’s critiques was absolutely right. Because I consistently thought of how to use all the fabrics, that was why I tried to create a skirt and I left the hem of jacket but the sleeves was beautiful voluminous, the front zip was up, sleeve’s hem and central font was decorated with tassels, asymmetric skirt. Still it is a lesson learnt for the next episode!!!
3. Misura challenge: Bohemian Mom and Daughter – 5 hours
A COUPPLE WORK – I was lucky enough to survive this tremendous twisting challenge!!!!

I am a big fan of team work. I love, love to work with someone else only but not in the competition and in Italian language. I hoped to pair with Daniele, Gianluca or Alessandra. Because I like Daniele’style, Gianluca’s precision and Alessandra’s experiences and of course, easy to communicate is my first priority. Then I was randomly paired with Cira. I bet you understand how trembling I was.
We decided to do Cira’s design and follow her instruction. I was happy with that decision. After all, we are a team, even though a tones of difficulties, I tried all my best to work with Cira from listening to her, communication, encouraging our spirits. Amazingly, she was so positive and cooperated. You had to see how funny I used my body language to express my opinions and how hard Cira tried to talk to me.
I am grateful to have this experiences. I bet we need more hours for this challenges but learning from each other is precious for me.
Elimination: Daniele and Nagu had to go home. I could not tell how much sad I was. I bursted into tear like a babe as soon as I heard their names. They are my friends and I love both of them. One has specific styles and one has an amazing ethical mindset. It was so hurtful to see both of them off the competition. But they are brilliant, they will have a bright future I believe.
